Happy Providences

14Dec09

I love my church. :-)

And I love being a part of what God has been doing in the past month!

Yesterday, in the “happy providence of God,” both Dr. Ryken and Dr. Tripp were preaching on Romans 8:31-39.  Morning focus: love.  Evening focus: hope.  Main point of both sermons: I cannot view God’s promises through the lens of my circumstances, but must instead view my circumstances through the lens of God’s promises.  “If God is for us, who can be against us?!”

Last night at church, five of us who attended the Global Missions Health Conference were able to sit together for worship.  It was exactly a month after we’d gone out for ice cream with Chuck.  A lot has happened since then (my application to Interserve, for one).  As a group, the past few weeks have given us some informal time to consider the conference and how the Lord would have us proceed.  There are doors opening in a variety of directions, and there are many different gifts within the group.  A number of us will be meeting this Saturday to spend a good bit of time in prayer – for each other, for the city of Philadelphia, and for the world.  Please be praying for us!

I can’t wait to see what happy providences God has in store for us as individuals and as a group in 2010.  It’s going to be one exciting year…
