Today’s Writing

So in a real attempt to *actually* finish my MTW application, I have been working on it (hehe – funny how that’s how things get done, isn’t it?!).  The main application is 12 pages long (before I started typing in any answers, that is…).  In addition to the main application, there’s the Confidential Background Info Questionnaire (7 pages long), the reference list (need 8 non-family references), and the Reformed Theological Assessment (3 pages of essay questions).  Being single has its advantages – on the 12-page application, I’ve been able to write “n/a” next to four essay questions (phew!).  But that doesn’t mean that the remaining questions are simple.  Nope.  Here are the two I wrestled with today:

Please write a biographical sketch highlighting the significant factors that have contributed to making you the person you are today.  Please include in your summary (but not necessarily limit your summary to):

  1. The general chronological flow of your life
  2. The nature of your family relationships as you were growing up and now
  3. Significant relationships, events and experiences in your life
  4. Opportunities you have had for leadership

(1 page word limit) *(in size 11 Arial, for those who were wondering)

Please describe your Mission Vision by including the following information:

  1. Why you believe God is leading you to cross cultural ministry
  2. Why you want to serve with Mission to the World
  3. What you have done to prepare yourself for cross cultural ministry
  4. What contact (if any) you have had with the field leadership of the country you are desiring to serve in (if known)
  5. What strengths and limitations you would bring to the mission field
  6. What you would like to accomplish as a missionary
  7. What you think would be most rewarding and most difficult in cross cultural ministry

(1 page word limit) *(again, size 11 Arial)

I have three more questions to answer before the main application (12 pages) is finished – and then on to the daunting task of answering three pages of Theology questions.  Yow!  Please be praying for me as I seek to wisely use my time.  It takes a LONG time to write thoughtful, honest answers to these questions, and sometimes I feel like I’m running my brain dry with all the thinking that’s required.  I wish there were an “Easy” button for this. :-/  “He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.” (II Thessalonians 5:24, ESV).  Please be praying that I will rest in the Lord as He does this in me!
