Home Safe, No Flu. :-)

27Apr09

I made it home safely late last night – thank you all for praying!  The week was beyond FABULOUS – I learned SO MUCH!!!  It was essentially a crash course in tropical medicine crossed with medical missions – a terrific mix of lecture, hands-on learning, and clinical practicum time.   A more detailed post will (hopefully) follow, but here are – guess how many – pictures of the trip for a quick sample. ;-)

Campamento Tejeban (with Friends!)

Our classroom/dining hall for the week - cool in the mornings, warm in the afternoons, and deafeningly loud when hail hits the tin roof (as it did several times during the week).

Drs. Ted and Sharon Kuhn - our FABULOUS leaders! (Ted and Sharon are MTW's medical directors and have gobs of experience in both short- and long-term medical missions).

Back at the campground, this is where a number of our outdoor "classes" were held (i.e. water purification workshop, mosquito net workshop, field lab workshop, etc.).

The spread of the campground... Lots of safe space to run around (I saw frisbee, soccer, basketball, and volleyball happen, among other things).

Our last night all toghether in Mexico (L-R: Brooke, Jessica, Erin, and Susanna). Yay for new friends!

Hey girl! So glad you made it back safe and sound. I’m so excited to be able to follow you on your blog and see what life is bringing you. I pray that you will follow your heart to where God is leading you. And – if you ever need to practice your Spanish AND your nursing – you always know where you can find me :-) It was a pleasure, priviledge and a blessing getting to know you.
